Happy New Year! (It’s still okay to say that, right?) Well, it’s officially 2022 and the future is looking sustainable and plant-based more than ever. Most of us make annual resolutions for what we want to improve for the New Year. The top three resolutions, for Americans, is doing more exercises, losing weight, and improving one’s diet. Lettuce suggest a solution that is not only good for you but good for our planet, too.
Introducing: Serrano Yuzu Vegan Patty w/ Vegan Fat System
The trend for more plant-based options, whether it be protein-alternatives or more vegetable-forward dishes, at dining establishments and in CPGs is driven by the health-conscious and climate concerned consumer. Until recently, most of the plant-based protein alternative products were standard flavor profiles; think bratwurst, unseasoned or black bean burgers.
Today’s market has slowly grown to include flavors we’re familiar with, as well as trending global flavors. Companies like Sweet Earth and Field Roast have expanded their product lines to include items like: Kimchi Cashew Burgers, Ginger-Scallion Sausages, Apple & Maple Breakfast Sausage, and Spicy Mexican Chipotle Sausage. A sustainable future can be a flavorful one.
While consumers are interested in trying new things, products compromising flavor and perception integrity will never pass their test. When designing January’s Serrano Yuzu Plant-based Patty, we didn’t want to emulate a traditional meat profile, but highlight on the natural delicious flavors of serrano peppers and East Asian yuzu fruit to support the wheat and pea protein base. All of you carnivores know that fat = flavor so we’ve introduced our signature vegan fat system which further boosts the mouthfeel perception of this quality product.
